I have ordered about 12 design books from the library today. I hope to God, they don’t all come at the same time.
A diet of images is important to any graphic designer. It’s important to look at what your contemporaries are doing, where things are going, where things were.
Tumblr is good, but it also detracts from really studying images I find. If I am holding a book, I am much more able to dissect and analyze, let’s say 300 pages of illustrations in an hour, more than I would have been able to do online.
Then I can go back, and really savour each image. Go back, and really think about it in context of what I have already seen.
I am definitely a book learner.
